Abstract
According to Law no. 28963 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage, “conservation” and “being conserved” are defined as preservation, maintenance, repair, restoration and functional changes in immovable cultural and natural properties; preservation, maintenance, repair and restoration works in movable cultural and natural properties, respectively. However, it is not probable to say that natural, historical and cultural conservation policies have not been applied successfully in our country by now. In this, various causes have been effective such as; inefficiency of qualified determination and official registration, incorrect planning decisions that pattern integrity are not taken into consideration, poor applications and inefficiency of conservation consciousness. In this study, Mimar Sinan’s “Sense for Conservation” has being discussed his approach to the previous cultures as he was one of the biggest architecture in the world and had solved the problems stated above before. The present attitude towards the conservation of Mimar Sinan’s works in Edirne is to evaluate around Sinan’s sense and to make suggestions considering the transfer of architectural-cultural heritage that Sinan’s works has in them to the next generations in a more conscious way of sense for conservation.
